Ahh…pizza. That tried-and-true comfort food we all know and love. Well, here’s something else that’s comforting: pizza boxes can be recycled.
That’s right. Performance Food Group, the foodservice distribution company that’s been keeping your pies piping hot and delivered fresh for years has partnered with the WestRock corporation to bring you Sustainable Choices™ - and we are here to educate our customers about corrugated pizza box recycling.
WestRock, manufacturer of the world’s most recognized pizza boxes, developed a ZIP code lookup tool (found at the top of this page) that will help you scan, learn, and recycle your pizza box.
We want everyone to know empty corrugated pizza boxes are recyclable. Grease and cheese residue does not prevent boxes from being recycled.
Although empty corrugated pizza boxes are technically recyclable, many programs do not accept them yet or the local guidelines are not clear.
The paper, recycling and pizza industries are coming together to get recycling programs to accept empty corrugated pizza boxes and to make sure their guidelines clearly state that they are accepted!
Your local recycling guidelines accept empty corrugated pizza boxes, however, the wording may be unclear.
Your local recycling guidelines do not accept corrugated pizza boxes, however, they should.
The guidelines are unclear if corrugated pizza boxes are or are not accepted.
There is no recycling program in your area.
